Admission requirements
a) C+ for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders or its equivalent as determined by the Kenya National Examination Council and Attainment of C+ in Mathematics in KCSE
b) Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) diploma or its equivalent
c) KACE with 2 principles and a subsidiary or its equivalent
General objectives or expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of the programme a student should be able to;
1. Explain theories, concepts, principles, processes and procedures associated with purchasing and supplies management;
2. Develop understanding of relevant frameworks, policies and legislations governing purchasing and supplies locally, nationally, regionally and internationally;
3. Demonstrate appropriate professional knowledge and technical skills and technologies for application in purchasing and supplies management decision processes.
4. Appreciate, assess and evaluate information in order to provide and/or make choices on purchasing and supplies processes, procedures and activities.
Career prospects
A Bachelor of Purchasing and Supplies degree prepares the student for a career in both private and public sectors. A growing country like Kenya requires an education system that is able to produce highly trained professionals in purchasing and supplies background. The study of Purchasing and Supplies is important in understanding theories, concepts, principles, processes and procedures associated with purchasing and supplies management; relevant frameworks, policies and legislations governing purchasing and supplies locally, nationally, regionally and internationally, gaining appropriate professional knowledge and technical skills and technologies for application in purchasing and supplies management decision processes.
Requirements for graduation and degree classification
i. To qualify for the award of a degree, a candidate for the Bachelor of Purchasing and Supplies degree shall take a minimum of 48 units during the four years of study.
ii. A candidate may be allowed, on requisition, to graduate with a maximum of one failed unit. The unit shall be non-core unit.
iii. The degree award and classification shall be based on the average score of all the units taken in the programme.
iv. The final award of the degree shall be classified into First Class Honours, Second Class Honours (Upper Division), Second Class Honors (Lower Division) and Pass, based on (i) above. Honours shall be awarded to candidates passing in the First Class, Second Class (Upper Division) or Second Class (Lower Division).
