Admission requirements
a)    Holder of KCSE certificate with a minimum mean grade of C+ plus a minimum of C in both Mathematics and English/Kiswahili; or
b)    Holder of KCSE certificate with a minimum mean grade of C or O-level Division III plus a diploma from a recognized institution., or
c)    Holder of KCSE certificate with a minimum mean grade of C or O-level Division III plus CPA/CPS Part II or equivalent professional qualification, or
d)    Holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes plus a minimum of a credit pass in Mathematics at KCE, or
e)    Holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two subsidiary passes plus a Diploma from a recognized institution, or
f)    Holder of a degree from a recognized university, or
g)    Holder of qualifications deemed to be equivalent to any of the above.

Duration of Study
i)    The Bachelor of Commerce course shall be offered in EIGHT academic semesters organized in FOUR academic years.  A learner will be deemed to have passed an academic semester after successful completion of all the units in the previous academic semester.
ii)    Each semester will have a maximum of seven (7) units.
iii)    Courses shall be offered in terms of units with one unit consisting of a minimum of 45 contact hours.  For this purpose a one-hour lecture is equivalent to a two-hour tutorial or a three-hour practical period or an equivalent amount of other assigned study or practical experience of any combination of these that may be approved by the University senate.
iv)    The programme will run for a minimum of 8 semesters and a maximum of 12 semesters.  The student will be encouraged to undertake the industrial attachment in the area of specialization.
v)    To qualify for the award of the degree, a candidate must take and pass all fifty three (53) units offered.  Learners who wish to take extra units during vacations will be allowed to do so, subject to availability of resources.

General objectives or expected learning outcomes
1.    Demonstrate an understanding of theoretical and practical aspect on business management in a dynamic environment.
2.    Exhibit ability to apply business analytical tools and techniques to provide solutions in enterprise management. 
3.    Demonstrate ability and attitude to support a business enterprise in their functional areas of specializations including accounting, finance, marketing, human resource management, insurance and risk management or supply chain management.
4.    Identify business opportunities, prepare a business plan and apply appropriate fundraising strategies.
Career prospects
The study of bachelor of commerce is central to understand business dynamics, markets, trade, government policies, international issues, globalization, development, and the environment. This programme is for students intending to become practitioners in accounting, finance, human resource, marketing or supply chain as well as consultants in the said fields.

Requirements for graduation and degree classification
i)    To qualify for the award of a degree, a candidate for the Bachelor of Commerce shall take a minimum of 53 units (2385 lecture hours) during the four years of study
ii)    A candidate may be allowed, on requisition, to graduate with a maximum of one failed retake unit. The unit shall be non-core unit.
iii)    The degree award and classification shall be based on the average score of all the units taken in the programme.
iv)    The final award of the degree shall be classified into First Class, Second Class (Upper Division), Second Class (Lower Division) and Pass, based on (i) above. Honours shall be awarded to candidates passing in the First Class, Second Class (Upper Division) or Second Class (Lower Division).
